Hello and thanks for stopping by today to see the progress that I've made on our master bathroom for the One Room Challenge! If you missed the post from last week you can catch up on the plans that I have for this space here.
As a reminder this is our very basic bathroom that we are starting with.
I mentioned that the first thing I wanted to do in here was install a half wall of shiplap (or v-groove planking to be more specific) to add some character and to lighten up the entire room.
I got a great start on the first wall...
And then my progress came to a big halt and sat like this until Sunday.
Tristan came down with a cold that turned into croup and then passed the cold to Lucas and his turned into an ear infection. So my focus was shifted to taking care of my babies during the week and by the time the weekend arrived I had a baby shower Saturday afternoon and a birthday get together for one of my close friends on Saturday night.
This picture was taken on Sunday morning. Please excuse the clutter field that our vanity has become...
I kept it real for you guys and even left Lucas' red teddy who has been hanging out in here all week.
The vanity is about 99% painted and just needs a few touch ups here and there. I hope to have the doors and cabinets put back on this week and that alone will make me fee so much better.
Can you spot my super cute chicken wire toilet paper holder (affiliate link) holder hanging out inside the vanity? It's even cuter than it looked online and I absolutely can't wait to put it up!
Sunday afternoon the hubby offered to put up my second wall of shiplap for me and I didn't argue. I'm so lucky ♥
("what's so interesting here, Mama?")
Lucas was starting to feel better so he offered his version of helping which was to bang the screwdriver on the wall to pretend that he was hammering. It was super adorable but once I get the paint on I'm going to have to put a stop to that!
I shared a tutorial on shiplap installation when I installed it in the boys' bathroom that you can read here. I feel like it's taking me longer in this bathroom because there have been more obstacles to cut around. Mad props to the hubby to working his magic with the jigsaw on those spots!
The third wall just got completed last night.
The boys had a great time playing on the bed while I worked on it haha.
I can see the end in sight for the shiplap and am excited to start the finishing process which is patching, sanding, caulking and painting.
My goal is to check off the following by the end of this weekend:
- Finish the touch ups on the vanity and re-attach the doors and hardware
- Start (and possibly complete??) the finishing process on the shiplap
Be sure to check out the progress that my fellow brave One Room Challenge guest participants have made here.
Linking up to these awesome parties.
